So I was look at the tank the other day and noticed something was digging under the rock. I kept an eye on it and discovered this little guy. Sorry for the bad pic but he is shy. He has been hiding for awhile b/c I haven't added any new rock besides what was transferred from the 40 gal last summer.

Oh come on bro, he just wants to shake your hand.

Nope I can not tell from one claw, but he probably should be removed if possible.

    Agreed.

Aside from commensal species, any crab has the potential to become opportunistic.

And If I remember correctly, pointy claws are a bad sign (an old rule of thumb)... as in might eat corals, etc...

Pointy claws alone aren't enough to go by, however this crab displays most of the traits of a gorilla crab: Big meaty claws (spongebob lol), black on the tips, "Fuzzy appearance," and that coloration.

If you're not happy with 90%, a front on picture will tell for sure.

Exactly. IMOPE, any claw is capable of killing fish, corals, and inverts.

He is a cautious little bugger. I did manage to get him up on some rock but before I grabbed him he managed to get away.
