That definitely looks like an Aiptasia...actually very similar to the one being Aquanerd posted about this week about the Aiptasia being sold on e-bay for $500! Ultra LE Aiptasia Anemone Listed on eBay for 0 | AquaNerd

I suggest putting Peppermint shrimp in your tank to eat them. I also inject any Aptasias I see with Tropic Marin Elimi-Aiptas directly into the stalk as opposed to the mouth. I find that the product has a better kill rate when injected into the stalk.

Since you have two aptasia, i would highly discourage any pepp shrimps. If you had a severe outbreak, sure, but two no way.

Best route is what you took.

    Killing it

I have had problems with aiptasia in the past. Glue gel is great but other stuff IMO just makes it worse, kill one and two more pop up a week later. I did figure out a cure for me though. A turkey baster and a ice cube. Hold the cube on the polyp till it shrinks, it will dislodge and run lol suck it into the baster and discard. It will not do its death blossom and spread its young in me experience. Just a suggestion.
Power all pumps, and ph's of so you can see the tiny guy make a run for it.
I have used the multiple times over the last four years. Currently zero in my tank.

    Thanks :)

I have also tried using a Popsicle stick and home made ice sickle to get the tiny deep ones. Works good. Hope it does for you too. ;D

Personally, I think Aiptasia looks pretty cool, but it's also not worth the risk of it overrunning your tank.

I have blasted Aiptasia with boiling water in the past and it has worked very well, plus you aren't putting any extra chemicals in your tank. BTW, that is a fantastic picture.

How do u get the hot water into the tank? Any adverse reactions from the tank?

I use a syringe that looks like this, I haven't tried using it around any coral or anything, and the small amount of fresh water you are adding to the tank by blasting the Aiptasia should not be harmful to your tank.

I got this syringe from my lfs for the purpose of feeding my fish and coral, but it has come in handy for other things a few times. I'm probably going to buy a few more since it was so cheap.
