I would like to identify the stringy white thing and the brown thing to the right of it. The brown thing opens up but it closes as soon as the light hits it. I does not look like aiptasia. I will keep trying to get a better picture of it. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks! They're not so attractive but at least they are harmless.

Very nice picture of your spaghetti worm, actually its not a “they” that’s one worm. The tube is in the rock and grows to about 6 inches, the tentacles can reach as far as 2 feet. Every now and again you will see a fish or crab snap off one of the tentacles – but they grow back.

Very cool hitchhiker you got there. Ronald Shimek put together a nice write-up on reefkeeping.com : http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-06/rs/index.php

Thanks Crimson Ghost. I guess the spaghetti worm is a keeper. I like the JB references too.

The brown thing almost looks like a polyp, but it's hard to tell with it closed up & I don't remember seeing them close up when light hits them. If you can get a better pic of the brown thing, please post it!

I'd have to agree with Miss Sushi, looks kinda like a closed up button.

It is a closed up button. I was able to see it when it was open. The rock is just sitting in a 10 gallon tank until my display arrives on Tuesday, so maybe the polyp was spooked by my bright LED flashlight when it was completely dark in the room.
