Is this algae harmful

    Tank is about 16months... not newly cycled... all parameters are checked every other day to 1 time per week depending on which parameters are being tested..

    I would think then that what you have is cyano or red slime or both. Try to manually remove as much as you can - is there something in this method that says cyano or red slime may result? Just curious because sometimes a certain method of dosing can lead to higher levels of algaes (ie. biopellets can sometimes lead to cyano) Perhaps the nopox could be causing it? oh, and I do know how to spell siphon LOL

    I don't think it is the problem... again I think it came in on new frags that I got since I've been busy @ work & didn't get to test & dose @ my schedule time it got away from me... still I don't think it is out of control & my regular routine should get it cleared up... I just wanted make sure what it was, was not going to kill my stuff & take over tank within a short period..
