I have a few peices of LR that are covered in a fuzzy shag carpet like substance. Is this algae and is it bad. I have scrubbed it off with a toothbrush before but it seems to just come back. Help!!

Yes it is Sargassum sp. and tends to show up on a lot of new LF from Fiji
    How new is your Tank?
There are many factors but the big one is to reduce the nutrient in the system.
Try to cut back on feeding, water changes.
What are your current water parameters?

    nitrite 0
    nitrate 10ppm

I dont overfeed and I make sure that most everything is consumed.

    Strange.
    What lighting are you using.

It's typically a tough algae to get rid of. Your best to keep up the water changes.

can you get a better picture of it? can you pull some of the algae out and take a picture of it, with a piece of white paper as the background?
