Is this an adequate setup?

    I wouldn't let what everyone said discourage you. If you made some minor changes I think it would work great. I would add a sump so you can get the full effect of the rimless tank, add a stronger power and just cycle the tank before adding any livestock. If you keep up on your water changes and don't over stock the tank, you should be fine.

    Its not that im letting them discourage me. The reason i started the post was that i felt that is was not really an adequate setup, and i wanted someone to confirm it.

    so what i am planning on trying to get the look of this set up and probably move everything below in a sump as you mentioned.
    does anybody run their heater in the sump or keep it in the tank?

    Put the heater in the sump, it will be fine. That's just another piece of equipment you don't need in your DT.

    Yup my heater is in my sump. Get one of the titianum(sp) heaters, glass ones can break easy in the sump and thats not good! They cost a lil more but are worth every penny!
