Is this an algae?

    I bought these rocks from a friend and they had some hair like things growing on them. They look really dark brown now because I put too much live rock in at one time and my nitrates went up a little. Not bad though. But, with the lights I have on now the algae went nuts. lol My camera isn't the best, that's another thing I need to spend some money on. lol Sorry...

    It is algae I dont know about the type though. My algae looked like that from a slug dragging itself across it. So maybe just looks like hair from a snail dragginf across it. Others will chime in with a more accurate answer....good luck

    Thanks, I figured it was. Just never had anything like this on a rock. I only had this tank up for about 4 months. I also only have 2 fish in it right now. Was waiting to add more when I got my sump and a better light fixture which is on it's way.. I'm going to try and build a sump with some help from all these kind people on here. Hopefully they are patient.. lol
