Okay i have two clownfish and i damsel (YT). Latley i have been noticing the YT and the bigger clownfish are bitting at the smaller clownfish and today the clownfish looks really pale. I mean is he stressed out, do i need to move one to a different tank? I'm just worried for him is all.

Some clown fish will fight each other unless they are a mated pair. It might be wise to move the weak one.

Are they the same type of clown? Where they introduced in the tank at the same time? To get a mated pair, one needs to be bigger than the other. The "fighting" is normal, one has to dominate the other. The dominating one is always the female.

Yeah i bought them as a pair. They where introduced to the tank together. I've had them for about 3 months now. I made sure when i bought them from my LFS i got the biggest one and the smallest one.

Yep found him in the sand with a snail on top of him. No telling how long he was gone for. Guess he took the very last bite in the butt from his tankmates. :(

Sorry to hear that. Theres really not much more we can do for clowns than you did. If you buy them together and try to pick a small and large one thats about as good as it gets. Clowns are just a really hit and miss fish as far as getting along.

As a Pair they will come already like that picking out a small and a big one does not make a pair! Paired up clowns will usually be in there own tank. if the lfs knows what they are doing a bunch of clowns in a tank will be a hit and miss with tring to pair them up. sorry if that seems rude I don't want it to come across that way I just thought you may have thought thats how you get a pair by picking a small and big one althought when buying small same size is good as the other ones growth will stop or slow for better words while the woman aka bigger one gets real big.

Sorry, but I will disagree with that statement. Its recommended to get one bigger than the other. It may not be 100% effective, but it does work. I have a nemo that has been with me for over 10 yrs now and when I introduced a 2nd one 2 yrs ago, he was half the size she was and they have been a spawning couple ever since.

No they where fine. The little one hosted a rock with some buttom polyps. But for some reason the YT and the bigger Clown where bitting at his but and he lost his color and died. But maybe he was sick. i'm not sure. Some nights i would look in and they would be like kissing touching mouth trying to swim away from each other. Silly fish.

That fish died b/c he/she was stressed out. Was he/she breathing heavy towards the end?
