i have a 14 gallon biocube and not too much experience, but am learning fast

it was started 6/14/10, ive been able to find answers for most my questions on the forums but this ones got the best of me

It's hard to tell, but it looks like red slime(algae). I have some in my 29g, but it hasn't spread fast on me. I would recommend taking it out.

Can we try a clearer pic to confirm though? It doesn't look "hairy" to me in the picture?..

Edit: I should correct myself. If it seems "hairy" then it's most likely red hair algae, or cyano. Though in the first pic it looks like coraline.

Looks like Formaferins or red coralline. Touch it and see if feels slimey or hard.

Looks like a red macro algae to me, but it's hard to tell from the pics. If you could get a much clearer pic it would be easier to tell. Or try googling Red Macro-algae and look at the pics that come up. I saw a couple that look similar to what you have, but again, it's hard to tell from the not so clear pics you posted. Do you have a macro setting on your camera (generally looks like a tulip on the settings)? Did you use it? My Canon has the Macro setting, my HP has a Closeup setting in the menus. Same thing. Without one of those settings, you will have a very hard time getting good pics.

The 1st pic isn't too bad, but if you could zoom in about 3x closer, then it would be very helpful.

it looks like a type of red macro that i have in my ten gallon. A little piece came on a frag and then it spread. Now I pull out clumps once every two weeks. If I had to do it again I wouldn't have introduced it into my tank.

ill see what i can do on the pics

@reefmonkey, its kinda hard to the touch, doesnt really feel slimey.
each cluster has 5-10 broad leaves and they are starting to lay flat.
