Noobie here... I did a bit of research and come to a conclusion that this is brown diatom algae which is natural for new tanks? Please correct me if I'm wrong and hope this isn't something that needs more attention. I've had my tank up for two weeks now. It's been a week with live rock purchased from a guy that broke down his tank he had up for 2-3 years. I also introduced 4 snails and 4 hermit crabs a couple days ago. The crabs seem to have cleaned up this rock in the photo but my right side of my sand bed still has some of this algae on the surface. Should I just leave it alone?

Yes its diatoms. Its normal and should clear up as your tank matures. Hermits and snails will help clean it up.:)
