As the title asks. Is this Caulerpa? Possibly Caulerpa Mexicana?

The green runner in the center of the picture that's starting to attach to the live rock in my sump:

It definetly looks like a strand of calupera of some sort. Can you post a pic of how you have those mangroves fastened to your sumps side?

there are several ways to stop this, one and the best is to periodically trim the heck out of it. believe me it will grow back. And I was told that leaving your fuge light on 24/7 will keep it from happening also. I trim mine and have had no problem with it.

it looks like it could be one of several type, C. taxifolia is one or it could be C. mexicana which is the type I have or it could be C. sertularioides . As tangster has said it way better tho have in a fuge than chaeto - Chaetomorpha crassa because it eat up more stuff that Chaeto does.

Alright Smitty, I should have told you how to do this...

    1 Rubberband (preferably small)
    1 Stick

Twist the rubberband around the stick and the mangroves, just tight enough to keep the stalk in place and still have room to grow and hang it up in the corner.
