Is this Coral trying to murder my other coral?

One of my corals is sending out wispy things at the other coral...


Is it OK if I place it close to the coral to the left of it? I think they are the same species but they look slightly different...

 

They look like galaxia corals. Their sweepers can get to 5" long and will sting the crap out of other corals. No clue about galaxia vs galaxia though. I'd assume they are safe.

 

I'm not entirely convinced they are in fact galaxia. But if they are, every time I've seen two galaxia's next to each other they've had their sweepers out. Its my understanding that they don't hurt each other really but they do stunt each others growth by even being in the same vicinity.

 

thats deff a galaxia and yes those sweepers will do some damage

yup galaxias will stings anything with their stingers, esp stony corals keep them well away from anything other than them selves. this is a common mistake by reefkeepers who buy this coral without the proper research and find that it is killing all their other corals. give them their space and they will be happy good luck
