    Hey all,

Just wondering if this is coralline algae? It's starting to spread on my glass in small circle shapes only. It's a fairly bright yellow.

    thanks!

Like pufferchick said, if it's a hard encrusting algae, then it's most likely coralline. It's come in all shades of colors it's just the purple is more predominant under the type of lighting we put on our tanks.

Okay, I'll try to scrape it off and see what happens.

    Thanks!

I have all colors of coralline algae in my tank too, this stuff just looked different and it's growing pretty fast, but only on the glass. I thought maybe it was something else, because my other coralline spreads really slowly and there isn't any on the glass yet.

    Thanks for the tips!

It looks like green coralline. I have dark green coralline on most of my back glass with some purple here and there.

it's green coraline, it does come in multiple colors
but that is dark green coraline algae, if you scrape it off, it'll encrust faster in other places.. same thing with purple coraline.. if you want the tank to spread a little bit faster, by scraping it off will release the pores of the coraline algae and cause it to spread faster
