I'm thinking yes. After all the pics and posts I've seen on this site,I've never actually witnessed such growth in my DT until now-just over a year later. At first I thought it was the red coralline I have an abundance of, but it's growing too fast to be. This is the only rock it's on and my burghias are working on the glass nem. population.

It looks like it but there are no trapped bubbles on the surface so it's hard to say.

Touch it, rub your fingertip across it a little. Hard and doesn't easily wipe off = red coralline. Slimy, soft, comes right off = cyano.

Better do something about those aip's while you're at it.

That's definity cyano. I used a turkey baster to suck up the thick clumps, then bought some Freshwater Maracyn (antibiotic). I used 2 pouches from the 10 pack & in 3-4 days that cyano turned light green, detached itself & drifted into my overflows. Never saw that gunk again. I found out about the maracyn from a guy (Rob Smythe*RIP*) that was in the hooby for 40+ years. He showed me that the antibiotic destroys cyano because cyano is a bacteria. Hope this helps & good luck :)

Oh...& Aiptasia X will take care of that nasty aiptasia that I see in your pic.Once those start spreading in your tank, they can be hard to get rid of! Take care of they before it takes care of you.

When I wrote this 10 years ago, it was the current thinking. It probably is still mostly accurate and can help in eradication and control. Reef Sources Features - Cyano-ra
