    here's wat is happening

    the first 2-3 days

    ph 7.4
    ammonia .50
    nitrate 0
    nitrite 0

    days 4 - 6
    ph 8.4 ( i added ph buffer)
    ammonia .50
    nitrate 0
    nitrite 0

    day 7-10 (recent)
    ph 8.2
    ammonia 1.0
    nitrate 20
    nitrite .50

is this normal for the cycling process? Do i just leave it alone? and what parameter should i be getting when the cycling is finish? I'm using live rocks to cycle. and whats the last step.. nitrite? or nitrate?

nitrate is the last step, when your nitrites are done you basically considered done with your nitrogen cycle.
yes its normal just leave it alone

in my case, for example, my nitrates got up to around 40 or 50 (continued to climb after ammonia and nitrites dropped to 0)... and i waited another week and it went down to 20.

at 20, i felt i was ready to proceed - which, for me, was the addition of my CuC (Clean up Crew).

(a few months later and they were finally down to 0 - and that's when I started adding corals)

Just let you tank go. Don't rush it. 8 days is not alot of time so just let it do its thing. It will work it self out.

Take some water to a LFS that tests for free or a few bucks. Your eyes might be ready for those numbers and tricking you. I did it and found out a test kit was bad. GL.
