With the falling USD the AUD is worth quite a bit more now :) Meaning i can import stuff a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'm in the process of helping my parents set up their 180 so with the dollar being favorable i'm looking at getting some power heads.

The choices I'm looking at now are the tunze 6085, 6065 and was considering the 6045 but i don't think it'll have enough juice. I was also looking at getting two of what ever model.

I was after both opinions and recommendations; K+ of course :)

it depends on your live stock, some people with soft corals only go for 20-30x turn over rate and people with sps go for 50x.
    so 20x 180=3600gph

thanks, so by using the 6065 I'll get 13,000lph which equates to between 45-50times which still should allow for decent enough conditions for SPS ?

    EDIT:
could i rather than getting 2 6065 get say 4 Koralia EVOLUTION 1050 and have to work the same, or doesn't flow rate 'stack' like that ?

The rule is in Gallons per hour, not liters. forgot your in aus.

it is better to get multiple smaller powerheads then one big one, so you can control the flow better.

It is ok, i'm pretty used to just keeping Google open for calculations all the time... If only the US caught up and went metric like everyone else... :p

So going by your last piece of advice you'd recommend 4 Koralia Evo 1050 over two tunze 6065 ? -- Based on increased control over flow?

yes, because a one or two powerful ones will blast what ever it is in there way, then leaving you very indirect control of lower flow areas.

+1 on 4 power heads being better than 2 IME

the old adage was "You cant have to much flow, but you can have to much flow in any one direction"

with the larger power heads, you limit yourself on coral placement to a degree as nothing can stand being to close to them or even in a direct line at medium distances away

    I think i decided on 4 Koralia Evo 1050...

Any one had any personal bad experiences with them ?
Or are they a decent enough PH ?

Tunze is a German company, and Hydor is Italian....how is the raise in AUD relative to USD helping you import this stuff?

We all work for the Yankee dollar blackraven

its the universal trade currency - I have now worked for 2 UK lighting companies and both have a dollar account for trading in the Far East

Im going to assume its the same in many industries, including the aquarium business
