is this even possible??

ok my dad has been wanting and wanting either some damsels or chromis for my tank every since i started it. when i say some i mean 2 or 3. i know. i dont know if my tank is big enough for that and the fish i already have. so he comes up with the next question. "well you have that ten gallon over there."
so, can i put three more small fish in my 29 gallon or am i already at my max limit. and can i put 2 or 3 fish in my ten gallon? i think it would be cool to have a schooling fish in there but dont want to do it if its gonna hurt my aquarium or the fish. thanks

 

I used to say that every tank has a "limit" b/c of size and to some point I think its true, having said that, it all depends if your filtration system can handle the bio-load. Im not saying to stick a shark in a 10g tank, we all need to use some common sense, but if the speices isnt going to "out grow" its environment and your filtration can handle the bio load, go for it.

so you think i should try? my mangroves are finally sprouting too so thats added filtration. and i have chaeto.

If you do get some, get chromis not damsels.

 

i know i have heard of damsels and what they can do. really want these chromis though. anyone think i could do it?

 

try it and see what happens, if worst comes to worst, bring them back to you LFS for store credit, or start a new tank.

general rule of thumb, 1 inch of fish per gallon.

 

You could deffinetly have them....

 

Either one, just keep an eye on your paras.
