Now granted - my response is not going to be a technical one - but more from the position of a parent whose kid has a "cool hobby".

Just a thought....you might be able to work this out to an even better solution! (this is how my own 14 year old daughter would approach it....)

Given that it certainly seems your dad has definite interest in your tank and reef-keeping hobby (a positive...) and likely sees it as a positive in your life right now as well, you might explain your concerns that you put in this thread - that you are nearing your limits with your current setups - and explain your concerns to him about the well-being of the fish, bioload & filtration issues etc.

This way - maybe you and your dad could recycle the 10 gallon for a sump or somesuch and you could get an even bigger tank or some type of upgrade to your equipment to hold all the fish - it gets your dad involved a bit more too and might help him understand what is involved.

If he goes for a big enough one, think of what a lovely "secondary / hospital tank" the 29 gallon tank would make.

Like my daughter always says - "hey it is worth a try"...

Good luck in whatever you work out. I hope to have some schooling fish sometime in my future as well.

    Happy holidays to you!
