If you have everything secured down then they aren't a problem. It's when people just place loose frags in the the tank that they start causing problems.

should i be trying to scrape the algae off of the back wall? I was going to do it at my last water change but was afraid that the algae might drift around the tank and start growing somewhere else. Like on the LR where it would be very difficult to remove? Should i just leave it and try to get something that will eat it or try removing it?

Actually it really looks like Turf algae, which isn't really a bad thing becasue it will suck up phosphates. I have some of it growing on some of the returns in my tank.

If you scrape it off your right you will take the chance of it spreading although you might try using a razor blade and cutting it off in sheets. But I would leave it and get your self a LM Blenny or the urchins that were already mentioned.

And yes the urchins can be rather destructive even if your rocks are epoxied together, there is a reason they are called the bulldozers of the sea. But I can tell you they will wipe out pretty much any type of algae except for some Caulerpa's and Bryopsis.
