    I have a Deltec MCE600

it measures (hang on Ill be back in a minute)

front to back - 4 inches at widest point
side to side - 10.5 inches at widest point
the last one was most tricky - but its 21 inches tall with the cup raised high to dry skim

so as long as you have 5 inches between the wall and the back of your tank - your fine
and Im sure the other models wont be much different

Yes - you dont have to use the HOB on the back - you can run it on the side
I have done that myself with a HOB on previous tanks

just need to be aware that the intake and outlet from the skimmer means you need to consider your light fixture which to me looks like a 2 tube T 8 fixture?
if you wanted corals and wanted a 4 tube fixture or 6 tube fixture - the intake and outlet from skimmer mounted on the side - might get in the way (probably would unless you had them on legs rather than placed on top of the tank)

nah its just 2 normal fluro lights with marine light globes....i am concerned i dont think i can even put the skimmer at the side of my tank as there are braces to support the rack!

i dont even have the option to put it under my tank as its not high enough.....im thinking my only option is to buy a external skimmer and have it where my canister filter is atm on the side of my tank....what do use think?
or does a external skimmer have to be placed in a sump?

Maybe before you get a skimmer or any other livestock get some lumber and make a stand. Then you could have a sump underneath to put a normal skimmer in and could ditch the canisters as there really not ideal for saltwater tanks.

you said this tank was outside . . . is it in a garage or shed? how hot does it get? your tank looks very new to me, how long has it been set up like that?

Im surprised - they are made by deltec, whose products are generally amongst the best out there that money can buy.
