Correct isn't really the right word; you make it the way you want to, and I mean like it doesn't need 4 chambers and it doesn't need to have like a protein skimmer chamber or anything. If you plan on keeping like some macroalgae with a protein skimmer in the sump, then the refugium should be fine. just have the return pump there, and if it works and does the purpose that you want, then you're good to go!

looks good to me. You could add some mangroves to help with the nutrient export... but like was already said, its more of a what you like thing... I personally don't have sand, but just used a couple chunks of LR and a decent amount of macro algae, but I was more worried about the mangroves growing into the seams of my tank. :)

If I am seeing that right the input is emptying into the first bubble trap section? It should be input/skimmer section, bubble trap, then refugium or return section depending on how you want to do it.

looks good, i would of put the bubble trap on the other side, right before the return pump, usualy it should go, filtering imput, skimmer section. refugium(if u want one) bubble trap then return, imo...other then that looks good. BTW how thick is the glass dividers?

Yeap... I would flip things around. Put the return pump where the gravel is, and the gravel (sand, if possible, works better) where the return pump is currently installed. Then the water feed comes where the gravel, into the middle/skimmer area, then through the baflers (bubble trap) and finally the return takes it back to the display tank.

There are many ways, but the way that one's designed, I agree with 2in10 and I'm pretty sure you have it backwards. Fortunately it doesn't look drilled, so switching it should not be major work. As far as the plumbing goes... if you need to re-do it the pvc pipes are relatively cheap now days.

Oh, hey!!! You could always unhook the pump from the plumbing and spin the sump around!! Yous still need to invert the return / gravel configuration.

Yelp looking at it the dividers it needs to change up. Water needds to come in on the left this is the taller pane, then it will drop to the skimmer section and then through the bubble trap and return back to DT.
