    To solve my microbubble problem that was related to a bubbly skimer, I just rigged a small filter sock to catch the bubbles. Problem solved. Rinse or swap it out when you do your water changes and you'll be fine.

    Before that, I had some floss wedged in a bubble trap in my sump. That also worked well.

    Does anyone know how you make this filter sock thing to put over the filter?

    Here's my setup:

    I bought the sock from my LFS, it was only a few bucks. It's a little more than you need for this application, but it suits me fine.

    The holder is three parts - a metal wire hanger inside of some plastic drinking hose, and sealed up with electric tape. Yes, some water got inside the hose and it's rusting like crazy - I'll be taking care of that when I retire a full-size filter sock, which is very soon.

    The clothespin is to help adjust the height of the holder - which I still have to do from this evening's water change :-X The clothespin is supposed to rest ON the tube, not under it.
