i put a filter sock on the end of my hob protein skimmer as there are millions of bubbles in the tank and it look really bad.
this morning i put it on but i wrapped the filter sock round the end of the outlet tube 3 times.

i went shopping for 1hr 30 mins came home and it was over flowing.

so i took it off and just wrapped the filter sock round once.

could me wrapping it round 3 times caused the pressure to build up in the skimmer as it couldt let out much water???

i have the air valve all the way open and i have the water level set for a dry skim.

That's probably exaclty what happened, you restricted the flow too much.

it could be the thickness, or something got caught in it and clogged it. IMO your going to catch 95% of the bubbles through the first layer so id just go with that.

yeah thought so, well hopefully it will be ok now.also as it is throwing out some bubbles but not a lot tho will this stress the fish?? and will it cause problems in my tank?

i was told it because its breaking in but i was also told that micro bubbles are not a cause of a skimmer breaking in??

life would be easyier if there was only 1 right answer lol
