I have this funny looking thing growing on 2 of my corals. Wondering if this is a problem - it is obviously bothering my coral bc some of it is not opening. Here are some pics:

I'd guess a majano or rock anemone.

I'd say majano, OK to keep if you feed lightly because they don't reproduce quickly in a low nutrient tank.

+1 to the majano. Just keep on eye on it so it doesn't irritate ur zoas!

majano +2. considered a pest by some reefers. Not as fast growing of a pest or problem anemone as aptasia but some hate as equally. Can be killed with anemone killers such as joes juice, kalk paste, or aptasia x.

if you try any of this you need to be extra careful so you wont kill your zoas.

If i was you, I would kill it asap. they can explode and be everywhere. kill now or you may regret it. i speak from experience. i lose several nice corals to them.

Majano are irritants to other corals bt are not as bad as aiptasia. I kind of like the look of them and ad one in my tank for a while....yup, just one :) Never multiplied like crazy etc.

i have three on a big zoa ruck, i like the contrast of the iridescent green vs the blue red of the zoas. Theyve been fine for me for 3 years.
