I have looked through other "ID this" threads and could not find this. The main parts are white, and the tubes are a light gray. I purchased the rock about a month ago, and since then it has been growing more tubes.

Any ideas on what it is? And should attempt to get rid of it?

(Yes I know about the aptaisia on the rock:p.)

    Thanks!

how fast is it growing? that's really what it boils down to IMO.

Sponges are great but some grow way too fast and require action before they spread to too many rocks.

I agree, it is growing in the shade and avoiding light... I have several sponges that do the same thing.

    Thanks for the quick answers.

I have plenty of sponges throughout the tank. Usually roundish shape, with some pattern on it's outside, and a round opening. This is much smoother looking, with tubular growths.

I guess I'm not to worried about a sponge.

Just keep an eye on it, like with any hitch hiker. We've only had one sponge that we had to remove so far. It was growing too fast and becoming an aesthetic nuisance.
