Well.... not that I thought I was immune or anything. I had read that maxijet pumps do not last on a wave maker configuration and I can now honestly say that I'll be paying for my mistake.... exactly how much? Whatever the mp-40's cost. I'm still in the researching stage on that, but I know they're quite spicy on the price. If its too much, I may go with the K4 evo or something nicer.

This hobby is truly a money hungry monster.

I too just pulled a Koralia PH from my DT. It didn't die, but I could definitely tell the flow was nowhere near as strong as my other PH's. I tried to clean out the hollow part where the magnet sits but it didn't help. I don't think I will replace it anytime soon. I have enough PH's in there to make up for it. Plus I cranked up my return pump a bit. I had it dialed back with a gate valve.

The mp40'S run around $400 each.... I swear this hobby is going to ruin me! This past month I got a new chiller mine was dying and an LED fixture.... but I am definitively planning on upgrading to this PHs....

Thanks, Vinny! I have two of those laying around that I got out when I did the sure flow mod on the wave maker. Maxi-jet with the sure flow mod really pushes a lot of flow, but on the wavemaker (constantly on and off) they appear to not last long. It is about time I buy quieter power heads anyway. The koralia evo's are wavemaker compatible and I'll get those, unless some other powerful, low profile, wave maker compatible power heads are suggested, that hopefully won't cost me a whole month of earnings.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

For the price Koralia Evolutions 1400's are pretty hard to beat. You can get two of them and a controller like the Reefkeeper Lite for a lot less than one MP. I don't think I will be going to the MP's for awhile if at all, the Evos do all I need on the RKL.

I'm a vortech fan! I used to run 3 koralias on my tank and replaced all with a vortech... never been happier with my flow! plus you can vary the setting to see what suits your tank best... that being said they do put a hole in the pocket but... it's all about the corals jeje
