Of course, I don't know if it's good algae or bad algae. I've looked up all the pictures of different red algaes and I don't see anything similar. I guess it hasn't matured enough. Maybe it's just in it's infancy stages. I think it actually looks kind of cute, like little red blades of grass growing out of my liverock. Although, I never get "nice" surprises. I always get the unwanted nuisances. This is probably a bad thing. I'll wake up tomorrow and my tank will be so full of it I won't be able to see my liverock, lol.

It doesn't look too bad. Are you still cycling? What do you have in your tank?

It's in a 14g Biocube that was set up on 11-5-07. I have about 20 pounds of liverock (15 pounds from my lfs that was cured, one piece was from petco... who knows with that one). I just added some pieces of squid to the tank, and I really didn't have much of a reaction. I had ammonia for a couple of days, my nitrites never went up. My nitrates got to between 5 and 10ppms, then I had an algae bloom and everything is now at 0. The rusty slime covered everything one day, then the next day green hair algae doubled in it's population, and this morning I noticed the little red leaves. This particular piece of liverock I think is hollow inside. In places I can look and see through it. So I don't know if it's growing from the inside of the rock, or just growing on the outside.

It's TINY right now, so it was very hard to get pictures. They're still blurry.

i see alot of air bubbles on those rocks.air bubbles can feed algae,so you wanna keep them to a minimum.

As long as it's not hurting anything and I can get some hermits to keep it trimmed down, I like it. I'll just leave it then. The lfs guy was telling me it was terrible and to take my liverock out and scrub it down. It hasn't grown anymore, so I'll just ignore it.
