+1 Like Mission said, my LR looked the same way for a long time, till I tested for Mg. to find out it was way below the normal levels. What salt mix are you using? or is it NSA?

I can test the Magnesium, but a week ago it was at 1400.
What's NSA ? I got the salt water from the LFS and I need to add about 1-1.5 gallon of RO everyday

"Natural sea water" I didn't know, I put the wrong letter there! If you don't have many stony corals chances are your calcium stays pretty much the same, but magnesium depletes rather quickly, if you haven't tested for it for a week or so, you might just want to start by doing so, but dkh, ca, and mg. is what you have to keep a close eye on.

I hardly ever have to dose mg. Once a month maybe. It depletes faster with mangroves(and some other macro algaes that I'm not sure of) in your system and a high coral load. If it was 1400 a week ago, I'll bet it is almost the same.

Just wanted to chime in and say the same white/snowy stuff is on my rocks too...

I may have missed it but, is it bad to have this in your tank?

    Thanks!

I have a 65 gallon, some days I add 3/4, some days I add 1.5 gallons, but at least 3/4 a day (if I don't have to get my hands in there I guess lol)

If this is fairly new live rock--the white stuff is die off--totally normal--not everything lives from the sea to the house--that is why we cure rock. Some of the best coraline will grow on those areas though!!!
