unfortunatly my first saltwater aquarium was a mess. its a 72bow with boat loads of algae and leaking plumbing. Its way too big for my bedroom so Im planning on getting rid of it for a 40b. Im 15 so money is a little bit of an issue but I have $150 and $50 to petco plus the money i'll get for the 72 bow. I have soooo many questions but I'll try to keep it simple for now. starting with absolutly nothing what would I need for a reef tank? this is my list...

    -40b aquarium
-diy or petco stand (does anyone any build plans for one)
-sump/refugium or diy sump/refugium (does anyone have good plans for a sump I could use for it?)
    -red sea protein skimmer
    -40lb's of LS
-internal or HOB overflow which is better and cheaper
    -eggcrate cover
    -oddysea 4x 54w t-5 light
    -2x koralia 1's
    -40lb's of LR
    -diy refugium light
    -power cord strip
    -termometer
-plumbing (I really need help with this, mine on my 72 is really loud and make A LOT of microbubbles that get pumped into the dt)
    -Rio 25+ pump

there I think thats it, if theres anything I missed please let me know. If anyone has a 40b please help me by showwing me picture of your setup. thanks so much, Jake

Well I think you have the item list covered pretty well.
Google DIY aquarium stand for the plans.
Prices are fairly equal on the overflow though the internal will be more reliable.
I am no help on the plumbing, don't have a sump. I do know that when you plumb the sump you want to make sure that you do not have the water falling from the overflow to the sump. This will help with the sound and the bubbles. You might get lucky if you Google sump plumbing. Good luck. Go slow and let them grow.
