I recently noticed that my acan that has been in my tank since March has now been eatin! I have not added anything to my tank other than a yellow watchmen goby and a peppermint shrimp. I have no reason to suspect my goby is behind this poor eating habit. But... I have seen my shrimp picking away at the acan. It when from a healthy blooming acan to just specks of purple. Has anyone ever heard of peppermint shrimp eating acan's or any other coral? Should I leave him in the tank or take him back to the LFS?

Peppermint shrimp are oddly tempered little things. Some will eat corals, some won't. Yours is a will eat coral. Go ahead and take it out and return it to the LFS.

Heh mine just ate a bit of a Xenia within 2 mins of it being in the tank. We took him out and ate it with a steak dinner.

Haha just kidding. It is living out its days in the sump until I take it back and get a different one.

Most peppermints are reef safe however you do get those bad seeds that will pick at corals. I have seen a few lfs's that sell camelbacks as peppermints though...morons!
