That scallop is really pretty! Are those hard to care for?

I just think it depends on what the tank is like that they're in. Gorgonians do fine in my tank which makes me think that there's plenty of stuff in the water. They're supposed to be fed regularly though. I may try spot feeding it.

That's really cool! I don't know anyone that has a scallop, but when I was browsing a website the other day they had some for sale. I didn't even know we could keep those!

Good luck with the guy! He's very pretty.

Thanks! The LFS that used to be around here had 6-7 of them in his frag tank..he said he had never done anything special for them and they had been around for a year or so. Hopefully this guy does well.

seeing your scallop is just making me more tempted to go back to the one lfs to pick up an electric just to try to see i can get one to live. Do you think it would have to be spot fed phyto or would it be able to catch it in the flow, scallops are just so neat

From what I have read..if you just turkey baster some phyto or something out upstream from it it will get what it needs.

I'm starting to get a good collection of critters on this fox coral! John Maloney sent me this hermit crab anemone with one of my orders. It originally had a hermit crab with it. I put it in the mantis tank..she ate the crab out of it..left the shell/nem in tact..so I moved it to the reef..then it got buried in the sand..and now it somehow moved it's way off of the shell..through the sand..over to the fox coral..then onto the scallop. What an adventure.
(pics were taken at night so they're not too great)
