I've had it with Aqua Medic Salinity meters!

Hi All.
I need some recommendations for a decent refractometer.
I recently bought an Aqua-medic salinity meter, with the idea in mind that it would be accurate and easier to test than keep using the refractometer i had.

First unit i sent back because it wouldn't hold calibration even for a few mins, it also differed wildly from the refractometers reading of the tank, they were both calibrated to the 1.026 solution provided with the meter.

Got the replacement unit the other day, apparently my tank has gone from 1.026 - 1.029 today! Which is especially amazing as i have added top up before the 1.029.

I've just had it with this rubbish rubbish product, i have done everything to calibrate, even more meticulously than the manual states.

Has anyone got any recommendations for a decent refractometer, i don't mean just a link in ebay but a tried and tested one serious reefers can recommend?

PS: Anyone wondering how Orangina is (Tubastrea Faulkneri) is, he is very well He has grown since getting him about 2 weeks ago, he is looking plumper and enjoys his daily feedings lol.

you might try this. there have been good recomendations on inexspensive refratometers.

 

I've been using this one:

When I got it, I checked the calibration using distilled water, and it was dead-on.
It's been working fine as far as I can tell. It cost $45 plus shipping.

i use a milwaukee refractometer. awesome, accurate for almost 3 yrs now with no calibration needed so far
