I am sorry to hear your pet died. Just like our tanks we need to learn proper care beforehand, it sounds like you have learned an expensive and heart wrenching lesson.

Hang in there, you will forgive yourself in time and move forward. You took a huge step forward by posting the truth and getting it off your chest. For that I say, good for you.

This thread will probably be moved to the bucket.

Keep posting if you need to talk about this more – we’ll be here for you, as will your mom.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Jason McKenzie knows birds much better than me and has numerous parrots. I'm only familiar with parrotlets which have hollow bones that are easily broken. I really don't know much about conures. It would be my guess that they have easily broken bones as well. One can love a bird too much and I suspect that's what may have happened here on accident. I would send Jason a PM.

I had an 11yo Male Golden Retriever. He went everywhere with me. Rode in the back of my pickup through town with his big fat head stuck out into the wind. Everyone knew him. That dog was with me through the toughest years of my life & yes, he was my best friend.
The biggest day came when he started acting "dingy"....was diagnosed with brain tumors (cancer). It was so sureal trying to make sense of it all. I'd take him back & forth to the vet until I realized the fact that my dog was only living for me, not for himself. He wasn't getting any better & was in alot of pain.
I had to force myself to put him down....to say "goodbye" & bury the best friend I'd ever known.
What would this life be without these awesome companions we call pets? I'd actually rather have pets than humans. But, you gotta let them go.
I know exactly how you feel & you'll be fine. Do Not despair. We can't have it all. Count your blessings and give thanks.

sorry, birds are really delicate(I think there bones are hollow). I think you may have rolled over in your sleep or something.
My dog killed one of my parkeets, it didn't bite it but it has a habbit of pushing its nose into stuff when it smells it, so it pushed into it and crushed it.
