I've saved 2 squirrels over the years. This is exactly what will eventually happen. Once they start getting active and wanting to climb you; just let it out.

One of the ones I rescued stuck around several years and was friendly but would never climb on me again. But was able to feed it.

we have a friend that has one and she's had him for 3 years now. its the sweetest thing you ever want to see. It goes out side and plays in the trees all the time. Then when the sun goes down it comes in through its own little cat door, She has built it a tree house in the utility room for it and that is where it sleeps at night. It also stays inside and plays there if the weather outside is bad.

My granddad had one for years when he was in his late teens and early 20's. My mom's neighbor raised one a few years ago, and let it go when it got old enough to find food on its own. It still hangs around in the 2 backyards. Good luck, Scooter!

Well I aquired Scooter's sister this morning...poor thing was so cold and weak, laying where i found the first... (i checked just in case today)...I brought her in, and i really can't say i'm too optomistic about her :( I did give her a warm bath, and wrapped her in a warm towel and she did eat a little and then put her with her brother...then about 30min ago she ate again...she was a little stronger (hopefully its a good sign)....poor things...momma must have abandoned the nest...or worse :(

Good luck with them :) my sisterinlaw raised a baby squirrel years ago. it was very friendly, it would climb up her body like a kitten does, the squirrel would sit on her shoulder, it was really cute and when they started to try and get it to be wild again it took the squirrel time but it did acclimate to the wild. it would visit for a bit. so it can be done successfully. and its much better than just doing nothing by far
