For the bowel movement, try gently wiping a warm damp washcloth on their butts. That's what you have to do with kittens (momma usually licks them, and it's enough the same to stimulate them).

Great to hear that you are taking such good care of them. My wife found these two in the front bushes and swore she would find them good homes once they could eat on their own.
Well, a year later they are still with us and of course will be for their life time. The photo was taken about 2 weeks after finding them. When she found them they were nearly dead and probably would have never made it through the night, actually we were not sure they were going to live even with our help. Of course they are not squirrels but my point is that its great to know people care about other things than themselves..

How you are taking care of them I would assume the same will happen with the squirrels, they will become pets.. Great to see that you took the time to care for them!

couple things to advise, i have dealt with a lot of small wildlife animals......i recommend you treat them right now as if they were hamsters and when they get older treat them like guinea pigs....by this i mean they do chew, they need good vitamin enriched chew toys....when they get older petco and petsmart have burrowing materials that are more realisitc than cotton......best to have them know as much as possiblew about being wild incase they do get out or are released, otherwise they are doomed....also...the more you handle them the nicer they will be....obviously, lol...but if they get too nice they wont fear that hawk diving at them....so decide now if you want to keep them for life or if you want to get rid of them one way or another.....bird seed mized with a high protein hamster/guinea pig diet is recommended when they get a little older.....also have vitamin supplement powders.....

Awww they're so cute. I have rescued several wild animals. Sounds like you're doing eveything right. I named one of my squirres Skippi. He was my favorite. I kept him inside for several months. He was so fun to play with once he was old enough to run around. I would race my hand over the couch and he would run up and pounce on it, grab my fingers gently with his paws wrastle them for a bit and then run away!! He would run up my leg and sit on my shoulder. I would keep him out most of the day so he would sleep through the night.

It is always really hard for me, but I always let them go when they are old enough. They are wild animals. He stayed around for a while. He would come when I called him and i would give him a peanut. He made a nest in a tree behind the barn. I would leave nuts out for him. But eventually he stopped comming around.

    Good luck and enjoy!

    Some pics of Skippi:

We are part of nature, thus nature is taking its course. Good job Kevin.
