Just got done setting up my 16g Bow front nano with a 10g sump. Going to hopefully end up being a high-end coral reef tank. (Possibly a mated pair of drawf seahorses)

Sorry i didn't get any pics of the actually build i was to worried about building than i was documenting

Sorry for cell phone pics, my camera's lens cover decided to stop opening

First the stand, complete DIY made from pine, stained with red mahogany:

10g Sump with fuge, Maxi jet 1200 return, going to get a HOB protein skimmer shortly (white stuff in fuge is old live sand, not aliens):

And everything together, checking for leaks:

Note: Valve on top is only to adjust the siphon for now, gotta run to the hardware store to pick up a cap and throw some air tubing in it, maybe a JG ball valve

Current light is also temporary, will be upgrading to either a MH or LED

Let me know what you guys think!

    Thanks,
    ~Jake

Nice setup so far. I think seahorses are a bit tough in a reef for various reasons, such as differences in temp and flow requirements. Look forward to seeing what you end up doing.

Thanks Steve, one thing i have noticed with the higher baffle from the drain into the fuge is it creates a lot of circulation in the bottom of the fuge which IMO isnt good for breeding my copes. Oh well ill just have to grab a cup full of water from my 75ga DT's fuge every once in a while when i get that bad boy operational, keep checking back, i almost have the 75 finished.

Long story short, my 75ga (my first tank) decided to crash with the previous owners poorly made sump which overflowed while i was at work. Luckily i saved most all of my livestock and threw them all (including water and LR) into a 55ga my roommate thankfully had sitting in the garage.

Crabs, snails, clown fish, anemone, frogspawn, zoes, kryptonite candy cane, and a blasto is the livestock. All of which were frags. Soooo as of right now the status on the 75ga; i just finished building a new 29ga tall sump that's fail safe from overflowing and just finished drilling for a Beananimal overflow.

All i have to do left is build a new stand, do some plumbing, and silicone on the overflow glass; a weekends worth of work, and its finished. (to bad money doesn't grow on trees)

Im pissed the 55ga has now grown more coralline algae than my 75ga had at the time ::) (it had just finished cycling and the sump/return wasn't feeling' it....)
