your tank really is amazing! How many seahorses do you have in there? I apologize if you've already said this and I've missed it.

Thanks! Don't apologize, I love answering any questions. There are just two right now. After the summer I'll add 2-4 more.

Congratulations jake. I love seeing success stories like these. It gives me the motivation to keep going when i get into the hard times.

I am most inspired by the sea grass. I am going to quarantine some from a beach near my house (because you can't buy that in australia) for a 2-3 months and have a go myself :).

Wow Ryan, how awesome that you live close to the beach! I'm jealous. Sounds like a good plan though. I love the green growth in tanks as well.

Thanks Ryan! Keep an eye out for tiny snails that live on the seagrass and grab a few... I don't have any and I get a lot of epiphytes!

The Halimeda really sucks up the calcium. This tank has had a very low calcium demand before adding the Halimeda and I got into a pattern of testing once per week and manually dosing the difference. Well this week calcium had dipped from 400 ppm to 280! Before the Halimeda, it would usually drop to 380.

Do you know what species you collected? I'm jealous of the snails. I clean my seagrass off manually every week!

    Another picture update.

The Halophila has been growing more quickly lately. I doubled up the number of Seachem flourish tabs in the sand bed a few weeks ago. New leaves coming up on the left.

    Two more new leaves.

The other seagrass species, I think Halodule.

Unfortunately the fox coral just hasn't done well. I am giving it to a friend tomorrow, hopefully he can save it (bottom right)

I don't know what species I collected. I collected a few, but they dont seem to be going to well. I got some really nice long green grass but that seems to be dieing in quarrantine. The leaves are dying off.

I got another smaller macroalgae looking plant that has flourescent blue and purple shades which seems to be thriving in quarantine.

I am not sure if its because the nutrient load isnt there in the quarantine tank? Is a month a long enough time to quarantine or should it be longer?
