Wow, don't think I've ever had so many comments at once! Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Things may change quite a bit before my next update... I've decided to sell the sun coral as it is just too much work for me to keep healthy right now, and I may extensively prune the Halymenia (Dragons breath) as it is really shading parts of the tank... downside to the Kessil I guess!

Kind of went crazy with the gorgonians in recent weeks! They really filled in the tank. Unfortunately when I was cleaning the Halymenia I unintentionally pruned about 50% of it. I also sold the sun coral, just wasn't worth the effort as it only opened at night. I'm thinking of trying out a dendro, which seem to be open all of the time.

The seagrass has taken off recently. The tank is about 6 months old now, so it is possible the sand bed is a lot more nutrient rich now.

Haha thanks Corailline. I feel the same way about your SPS tank... the grass is always greener. Maybe one day we will have both :)

Kind of a good news/ bad news post.

First good news... the tank has been going really well, so I decided to go out and try something new: my first non-photosynthetic gorgonian. I am target feeding cyclopeeze and Brightwell zooplankton (pretty sure it is just cyclopeeze, but it is nice it doesn't require refrigeration). Both seahorses love the gorgonian. As you can see the polyps are not exactly well expanded as I got it yesterday. Hopefully it improves this week.

Bad news now :( I have to move September 1st. This was extremely unexpected, but a nice apartment near the university became available and I was fortunate enough to get it, so I couldn't say no. This does not mean the end of this tank, but obviously the move will set it back.

If it wasn't for that DSB and the seagrass I wouldn't be worried at all. I think I'll take all of the livestock out of the tank. Next, I would gently remove the seagrass, and then finally the DSB. If the DSB passes the "smell check", I will reuse it... however if it smells badly, and it probably will, I will start a completely new DSB. Does anyone have any advice?

Very pretty! I think your plan for the move sounds really good.
