You don't want xenia and gsp to grow fast. They will take over the tank if you let them.
While they can look pretty in your tank, they ARE the weeds of the water, and don't look so good when they take over.

I had Xenia in my old tank... I tried to place it in this tank so that it would be confined to a single rock. It always seems to creep upwards toward the light. I actually like the way it looks when it is healthy and pulsing.

Big day... seahorses arrive in T-minus 3 hours!

I moved my Crocea clam to the sump and killed one aiptasia that popped up a couple of weeks ago. Those were my last remaining jobs before I think I could declare my tank was "seahorse safe".

I loved that clam... it is kind of weird the things I get attached to. Not sure if I can sell it without getting emotional haha.

RayJay you were 100% right when it came to these seahorses. They both ate well on their first feed ever in the tank (frozen pyscene mysis soaked in selcon), and seem quite healthy. These are by far the coolest fish I have ever had!

    Pictures to come this weekend.

Jake, it's unfortunate that this shipment had younger erectus shipped than he has received before which makes for sometimes unsure pairing due to later developing males.
I hope I can talk you out of soaking frozen foods in Selcon or any other enrichment for seahorses.
First of all, VERY LITTLE will remain coated to the food, meaning the wash off will enter the water column and cause water deterioration much faster.
Instead, get live mysis or mysids or adult brine or ghost shrimp, and enrich them and feed that once or twice a week.
Another thing, the PE mysis is too fatty to use full time. Split it's use with Hikari mysis.

Here ya go oldfishkeeper :) the other one is in the background if you look carefully, but it wasn't in a great position to be photographed. They both seem to like hanging out mainly on the Halimenia and dead SPS skeleton so far.

And I just liked this top down shot of my fox coral.

I'm did notice that, I wasn't able to determine if they are male or female. Hopefully I end up with one male and one female as I'd like to to try raising their fry, but I will likely end up purchasing another pair or two anyway in a few months if my first seahorse endeavour goes well.

I generally soak fish food in selcon about once per week, but I will keep your advice in mind. My tank needs a few nutrients at the moment anyway.

I have several frozen foods I was going to try. The PE mysis I noticed was quite large, and I agree, it even somehow looked fatty. I also have PE cyclopeez, Hikari mysis, Hikari spirulina brine shimp, and Hikari ocean plankton that I use in other tanks. What do you think of those?
