Ummm... I almost decided not to post this comment, but here it goes.
You spot check you calcium level in your tank, fine. It's about 500 ppm, right? The resolution of the reading on the display is 0.2 ppm. The best level of accuracy after calibration is +/-2%. I just repeated the above info, are you with me so far?

2% of 500 ppm is 10 ppm. That is as accurate as your meter ever could be when testing in the 500 ppm range. If it's only accurate to 10 ppm, there is NO SIGNIFICANCE in either the 0.2 or even the single digit reading on the meter!!! Those numbers are USELESS!!!!

And the manufacturer of the meter knows this! They only have the "0.2 resolution" as a marketing gimmick to get people like you to overspend on it.

So basically, if it works for you and you're happy, then that's fine. If it is reading 500.2 ppm, just know that it could also be 490.2 ppm or 510.2 ppm.

Ermano, thank you for the compliment on my aquarium. I am diligently trying to get the algae under control, especially since their is more cool equipment coming.

Sorry to hear that. I've done stuff like that myself. But that's how I learn sometimes. :p

Bogie, please feel free to comment. That is why my thread is on a public forum. So here are my thoughts in regards to your comment on the accuracy of this device. I feel that this is much more accurate then traditional liquid test kits because their are less variables and inconsistancies then this device. Liquid calcium test kits are dependant on color interpretation from the individual conducting the test and we all interpret color differently so the outcome could be different for everyone. Also depending on the amount of reagents used the outcome can very. Overall their is no accuracy scale offered for such kits. At least with this device I'm garuanteed an accuracy of +/- 10 PPM which is fine for me considering I don't see any other manufacter or testing method promise me a a particular accuracy range. But I guess that is just the type of guy I am.
