Great thread and pictures! I also bought the C-Ckim 1200. Although the tank is a bit newer setup, it has been pulling some pretty good gunk already. I am happy with it.
Love the pics, and look forward to more! I love new tank builds!

James37128, that's funny. No I actually just pick up the entire thing and dump it down the toilet.

JBL, thank you for the compliment on my thread. The Red Sea C-Skim 1200 Deluxe is definitely well worth the cash. However, I need to find a solution to the horrible smell that comes from the skimmate since the aquarium resides in my living room. And when I say horrible I mean the smell of death horrible!

A charcoal filter over the air vent might help.

Matt Rogers, I was thinking about doing that except that their are 4 seperate vent holes on the top of the Red Sea C-Skim 1200 Deluxe Protein Skimmer collection container and the glass lid of the 2.5 gallon secondary collection container is raised and open. I was thinking about attempting to find a drill bit that would allow me to cut the glass so I can place the tubing through the top which would be ideal. However, I'm not sure if they sell a bit to cut glass in 1/4 Inch.

Just drink the stuff :p Chug chug chug chug! Imagine the gas that would give you...bleah. My advice on the skimmate is to do a Bear Grylls and drink it.

Jwin, I have drank some nasty things in my life but skimmate will definitely not be on the list. I will only consider something like that if at the end I will get a Bubble King Mini 180 with Self Cleaning Head. ;D But honestly I am truely amazed at the Red Sea C-Skim 1200 Deluxe Protein Skimmer performance. I am due to empty the 2.5 gallon collection container this Sunday and will post a video of just how nasty the skimmate is.

I think a drillbit like that is out there... if you dig there are some posts with links to diamond drillbits... in fact... look in the article section - the one about drilling your own tank has it.

Matt Rogers, I'm definitely going to search my local Home Depot for it. My wife is starting to hesitate inviting people over because the living smells like worse then a dead Snail.
