It's not the branching type. So there is a huge dead spot through out the middle of the coral. I have had small parts die before and the hammer has regrown over the dead. I'm hopping this will happen again

Hey Jason, did you finally figure out what caused this to your tank?

Jason, I just wanted to let you know that I have been battling something like this for about a month now. It started just after I changed my reflectors and started dosing vodka. I kept going with the vodka and was sure it was because of the reflector change. I kicked my light cycle back from 9 hours to 5 hours in hopes that this would help. It didn't help at all. After a couple of weeks of watching sps go downhill, I stopped with the vodka and noticed an almost immediate turn around. I'm sure the vodka was the issue. Now that probably 50 percent of my sps are fried, I'm starting to see polyps peek out of those corals that I thought were complete goners. Just thought I would let you know.

I'd say don't frag then :) I don't break branches of battle scared acros off, etc as I like to see the "natural" growth it produces :) Changes the typical cookie cutter into something strange and unusual.

Took all the rock out and reworked it
Here is before(and before the Crash)

    And here is now

There is about 1/2 the rock in there now with a lot more sand. I'm going to focus more on a mixed reef rather than 100% SPS

Tank looks pretty good after the trouble you had. Is that the hammer behind the foxface in the pic??

Ya that's the hammer. I didn't cut any of the dead parts out. Hopefully it will recover.

I know the change is hard, but I'm really liking the look of the new layout.
