I don't really believe in tank turn over per hour as a measure of good flow. I find it is as abstract as Watts per gallon.

I don't even know what the ideal tank turn over is, but I think you can have 1000GPH in a small tank and still not have good flow.

    I'm using a Oceans Motions 4-way oceansmotions
Not sure if you are familiar with its function, but it will be used to rotate the full 5500 GPH from the Hammerhead pump through each of the closed loop "steps"

I have found that many tanks are set up with powerheads on each of the ends of the tank. whether they are Tunze Streams or maxijets. Each PH that opposes another one can be cancelled out. This way with the 4-way water is moving in one direction at a time so the effect of 5500 gallons is not wasted fighting another jet of water.

    Looks great.
That's going to be close to 5500 lbs all together, if you only put in 1 lb of rock per gallon. It sure adds up fast. Hope you did your math on the wood frame.

Finally some fun shots as I tested the closed loop 4way with only 1/2 the water in the tank

Well it's been a while since I've posted. There has been a lot of waiting for bits and pieces and also a lot of reworking things that didn't quite work. So I finally filled the entire tank and install the wavysea + on the returns.
I went with 3 returns total. 2 on WavySea+ and one just reg lock line.
Got my sand Yesterday and rinsed the living hell out of it so the water today is remarkably clear.

Still a hole bunch of sand flying around but that's OK
As you can see I fired the lights tonight. Oh Boy. So that is 3X400W MH and 8X T5 Actinics. So my Wife wanted to get a pic form outside to see if the neighbours would think there was a grow op. in our house
    [IMG]
My Wife actually wants to invite all the neighbours over for a party and call it "It's not a grow op" she thinks that's the funniest :)

So I have 2 Wavy Sea+ they are super cool.

This is a pic of the controller. It allows you to set the swing distance by marking the end points of the rotation. Then it allows you to set the speed.
You can find move info at wavysea

Got the interim skimmer set up and running all I need to do now is straighten up all the wiring and clean up a bit

and a pic of the cool light timers I found
