I'm glad to see you guys like it so far. I will have to be really careful since the sump does not allow for much live rock. May I can add a few pieces of rubble in there.

I just found an interesting feature on the LED unit for this tank when playing with the controller I came upon this screen.

I was like, I didn't see any green or red LEDs in the fixture. I wonder if they offer a fixture with multiple color LEDs. I checked their website and did not notice any marketing of this option. I had always though the blue LEDs were an odd shade of blue. After looking closer I realized the blue was at 80% and the green was at 20%. So I started playing with it and realized I could manipulate the color any way that I saw fit. Thse LEDs that I thought were blue were actually RGB LEDs allowing for infinite color combinations. I'm pretty stoked about this!

Her is a pic of the reflection of the LED's and I think you will see the odd color of the RBG LEDs displaying equal proportions of red, blue and green. In this pic you can kind of see the interesting LED colors.

    Thanks Matt!
I doubt much more than an Eheim 1048 will fit in the sump comfortably. I had a 1250 but it looked to be a very tight fit. I will have to measure the skimmer chamber in the sump to see what skimmer will fit. Warner Marine has a 120mm skimmer coming so maybe that will fit. I'm not a big fan of the Bubble Magus Skimmers after they went away from the Aquabee pump and kept the same prices.

Sounds like a small sump there Greg. Do you have pics of it? Dimensions?
When did Bubble Magus do that with their pumps by the way? I have had mine for close to a year now - appears to have an Atman pump. I have had some rough patches with the pump not starting after a power outage but since I moved recently and leveled the stand, it has been behaving for the most part. Makes me wonder if leveling helped? Regardless, I am happy with it now and it fit the bill with my sump - let me know what you decide on and I look forward to more pics.

It was at least 3 years ago when the change happened. It was once they started bringing them into the US in quantity.

As for the sump, here is a pic. I will get dimensions as well but I doubt the skimmer chamber is more than 6" wide.

Very nice tank! I never saw one like that. I would love to have an open tank with MH lights, but I have a home daycare and all I could see is Barbie wanting to go for a swim, or the boys building the fish a new home out of legos. I have my 12 gal in the "play room" which is actually the living room and they don't even know that it opens.;)

I can't wait to see it filled. What are your plans for stocking it? (Fish, coral etc.)

Pretty much Matt, if you notice it utilizes every square inch of the cabinet! The skimmer is not a necessity since there will be mostly LPS. But I can always go with an air driven skimmer if I can't find one to fit. I can also @#$% can the whole skimmer idea and run a larger quanity of carbon in a reactor.

    great looking set up gcarrol

Jayda and Mia , must be getting excited now?

    how long until the move?

air driven skimmers, not a bad option IME , having used the Red Sea Berlin 90 and the Aquamedic Midi Flotor over the last couple of years, I was impressed by both in terms of how much skimmate they do in fact remove

only 2 negatives for me - 1 - noise of airpumps and 2 ensuring you always have spare limewood diffusers as they can vary in terms of how long they perform well
