got my CUC in yesterday and this time they were all alive! This morning, however I woke up and saw that all the bigger snails were at the top of the tank and one was even out of the water hanging near the lights! What could be the problem of this? I know I probably don't have PERFECT water conditions but I to a water change weekly and dose with a chemical that detoxifies ammonias and stuff. I only do that once a week or every other week. Could it be that they feel threatened by my Green Spotted puffer? That is the only fish in the tank.

The did however clean some of the tank last night which is great! Puffers are messy and I hate cleaning up after them constantly haha

Also there is a white dot on the glass that showed up this morning. It's not huge probably the size of a pencil eraser. Any ideas?

Excellent news about the CUC, and yes some types of snails do tend to venture to the top of the tank water line and hang out. It is not a sign that there is an issue with the water quality IMO.

Does the white thing on the glass move at all?

Ok so its been about 3 weeks since I posted about my algae issue (on page 3) and since then I have been running a tunze skimmer with inTank collection cup and doing weekly water changes. I stopped siphoning the algae off the rocks for those 3 weeks and let it grow. And boy was it nasty and stringy like snot all over my tank. As the algae grew it got darker in color. By the 3rd week it had stopped growing and this is when I siphoned it off the rocks. It has not came back yet thank goodness. I never did get a positive ID on what type of algae it was but im glad its gone.

thats good to hear! I am battling some algae right now(Bryopsis). It came from a frag of zoos I bought a few weeks ago. About to just throw the frag out

The zoas are growing fine and everything but I can hardly see them under all the algae!!! So if anyone has any tips on how to remove it let me know. I have a CUC but they haven't touched it. WOuld a blackout for a few days kill it? Would my fish be alright without light for a few days?

also,,, i saw this today at my LFS. What the heck is it?
