Welcome to 3reef, just in case I have not covered that already.

Myself I do not have any experience with the LED version. Going to have to take a look at the JBJ sites or Nanotuners site and see the specifics about the differences between the two.

As far as noise, the trickle of the water makes more noise than fans. I can sleep just fine with a tank with minimal noise, some people it drives nuts or drives them to the bathroom all night.

If I were you I would start a separate thread asking the specifics of the LED for those skilled in LED's.

    Thanks.

I already have a white noise machine in there making gurgling sounds, so I am good.

    Will do.

Bye the way, if someone handed you the money, would you choose the same tank again? If not, why not? BTW, if I can get close to the tank you have, I will be a happy camper.

Hey thanks, that is a nice thing to post.

I got this link, you may have already seen it. I would go the Advanced LED, man that looks like a lot of light. Big difference in price, but I sure you could do sps and any other corals you wanted.

If I could do it differently I would go with the LED version, they did not have that when I bought mine.

Honestly I would say yes I would get the tank again. It needs to be resealed in areas at the very top of the frame. The HQI ballast gave me some problems but was easily fixable (3 years in).
I think you need to add some good power heads to the display, an mp20 or 10 would be ideal for me.

Heat has been an issue with the HQI but you should not have that problem with LED's ( I am jealous).

The lid does a good job on keeping evaporation in check.

If I could have any tank in the world nano size it would be a Solana, ELOS cube or a Cardiff, only because I really like the cube look and I have not had any of those brands yet.

    Well deserved.
I was just afraid of only being able to keep stonies up towards the top. You are right. It is 3 times the light of the intermediate system. I like leathers and polyps, and meats, but don't want to smoke them.

You sound like a little like me; a collector of cool. Always looking for the next best thing. Be careful cause that can get into your wallet in a hurry! :D I will check those out though. Thanks for your time.

Yes I agree, that lighting system might very well smoke LPS. The HQI melted blastos and ricordia like no tomorrow, lesson learned.

If you are going sps it would be the bomb for sure.

Wow! Very slick. Of those, the ELOS is my fav, but it provides way too much access to the cats, and too much opportunity for carpet jerky. (I hate it when they jump out).

DIY mesh lid. :) Pretty darn pricey for the amount of gallons but very slick for sure.

A few questions. I had alot of trouble getting a max jet 1200 to fit in the last chamber. I had to switch with the stock pump in chamber 1, but the hose was too short, so right now its sitting a few inches above the floor. Second, I put Macro in the first chamber of the media basket. I put a thin sponge above it to save theh pods from the flow. Does this sound like it will work? I still notice alot of water goes around, and behind the media basket, doesn't seem like the best design.

I, too, found the stock media basket to be very inefficient. inTank makes a media basket just for the JBJ 28 that seems to do the trick. I ordered mine and it is due to arrive next Monday. Check my thread early next week for pictures and a small review both pre and post installation.
