Also, I set up the fuge with stick on LED strip. At night, when I was told to run the light, (opposite the light cycle on the main tank), the light comes through to the main tank. Should I run the fuge light the same time as the main lights or risk light getting through the filter overflow grate at night?

    I jumped in tonight.
I went to my LFS and got the 28 advanced LED, stand, eShopps skimmer, and koralia 1050.
I plan to do a leak test on Sunday. As funds allow, I'll be getting my refractometer, test kits, etc. This is the list.

Sybon Refractometer with Automatic Temperature Compensation
    RODI (Already have this)
Reef Crystals Salt - 50 Gallon - Bag
    JBJ ATO System

Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (API) Calcium Test Kit
Aquarium Pharmaceuticals (API) Nitrate NO3 Test Kit
Red Sea Phosphate Pro Aquarium Test Kit
    Milwaukee Instruments pH Meter, MW102
    See pH Above
    NA

40 Pound box Key Largo Rock, 40 Pounds Bahamas Aragonite SandFree
20Lb Bahama Aragonite sand (shipping included)
25 Pound box Key Largo Nano Sizes

I'm planning on a mixed reef with 2 clowns, 2 pj cardinals and a watchman goby. Maybe a clam. I plan on going real slow with the livestock. What do you guys think about a quarantine tank?

I only use a qt when I get a sickly looking fish from buying online. I have had mixed results I have only qted 3 fish with 2 losses and 1 that got better. But at least they didn't get any other fish sick. I try to buy at a LFS so I can see that the fish is in good health.

I was thinking of getting getting one of these for my son for christmas. I was wondering if his flame angel could live in a tank this small with a pair of clowns, a pistol shrimp, and a watchman goby. I already own all of the live stock and was wanting to find a way to get them out of our bigger tank to lower the bio load.

    JBJ 28G LED modifications.

Hello, I have owned my JBJ 28g LED Intermediate for about 4 months now. My plans are to have coral, but I read on other forums that the amount of light output from these LED's is not enough to house the majority of corals.

I was wondering if anyone with the same tank has ever added more LED's or modifications to the canopy in order to get more light output? The intermediate tank has 27w and the pro has 89w. To replace the whole canopy for the 89w is to expensive so hoping someone can give me some advice here.

    Thanks guys

I can't answer most of your questions but I've heard a lot of people complain abou the JBJ ATO so I'd be cautious about using it. A bad ATO can cause nasty accidents.

Hmmmm. No happy to hear about the JBJ. I guess I'll look at alternatives. I like to get a ReefKeeper, but the cost is out of my reach.

From my reading, and talking with folks at the local club, the 28g advanced LED (89 watt) will support most any coral.

I've got the 89w LED and my acans, trumpet and leathers seem to be happy. No SPS so I can't report anything there.

From my understanding, the 27w is OK for keeping most soft corals.

I'm really looking hard at the AquaC Remora skimmer for a near future add-on. I don't really over-feed but I feel my filtration isn't as optimal as it should be. I'm running Chemipure Elite and Purigen but I have this undying itch to add as much filtration as possible.

I read a tank build where the guy used a Eshopps PSK75H. He had trouble with it at first, but found out he didn't set it up properly. Once he got it working though, he had great things to say about it, so I got one too. I've read good things about it in other threads and the price was right so I grabbed it.
