From the distance of my reservoir to where I plan on getting it topped, the distance is about 3-3.5 feet. Thanks for the suggestion of hydor nano!

yeah, but is it higher? it's 30"s vertical, not horizontal;)

The hydor nano will do 36"s vertical, but SLOWLY, but its a ATO, so slow is fine;)

Sorry for the confusion, it's vertical! Hahaha, it's from the bottom of my cabinet to top

I too use a hydor nano pump for my ATO. One thing to keep in mind is how you have this setup. I have a float switch inside my ATO tank preventing my pump running dry. The Toms AL can run dry/wet for hours. Also my tank send a me a text message when my ATO tank gets low and has disabled my ATO pump.

So I got my jbj ato from tbaquatic.com and the first thing I did was opened the jbj to fix the max timer on it. I noticed mine has a max timer of 7 minutes?? I read that jbj has a max timer of 14 minutes?? I called jbjlighting customer service and asked them about it and they said all jbj ato should come with 14 minutes. I tested the sensors and the unit and everything seems to be good. Is mine a knockoff from the original?? :(

The only problem I have with the JBJ ATO is my darn snails like to climb onto the floaty thing and sometime they get stuck in there. That can cause the system to trigger even when water level is higher, because float sensor cannot travel up. Had couple of VERY close calls :)

That sensor needs some kind of DYI cage/net around it, but I worry that would get clogged too.

I don't hahaha, but I'm just curious as to why my max internal is only 7 mins instead of the standard 14 mins
