For the time being, yes. Although looking around, that 180 is a really strong pump when putting a little back pressure on it. It performs close to the 400 at 1/2 the power. Don't know what to do now..

Well if it's working why change it? Is it because you want to put the loop back in? What turnover rate does the instructions say to have?

i'm actually looking at one of these for my 24g, I'm budgetting it with the MH upgrade canopy since I need to stay with the sealed lid

thanks for bringing it to the forefront of everyone's attention Matt and I'm glad to see so many good things said about these products

I want to get my flow back that was lost with the chiller in the loop. I ordered a Rio/600 today, so if that's too much, at least I can back it off a tad. Not happy about the extra heat, but now I have a way to get it compensate.

IRAF: I'm running the Nano Chiller on my 12 with the twin CF lamps. For the 1st time today I can run with the lamps on, lid closed, room A/C off, Room approaching 88 quickly, and the tank is a rock solid 78.5 !
Typically I run the A/C to keep the room at 80, lid open, lamps on short cycle, and the peltier chiller attached to the back of the tank running to keep it around 80. This is way more better.

    Gotta love it!

    Update:
Well the chiller works great! We have been through a couple of 105 degree periods and the tank is rock solid between 77.5 -78.0 with lights on, and no room A/C running continuously at 15A, so I can comfortably say that this $200 eBay chiller will pay for itself in short order. One thing I would caution/ suggest those with chillers in really warm rooms or have hose service loops that drape across the exhaust, that you go to home Depot and cover those pipes with insulation. I had both a really warm room and intake and return pipes in the way of the chiller exhaust and since slipping on the insulation have seen a reduction in chiller run time.

To the tank: This is a 12G, and one thing that got totally out of control was the hair algie that covered literally everything. Adding 3 snails and an Emerald Crab, along with the 5+ degree reduction in temp has all but eliminated my 2 year old problem in about 2 weeks. Now I need to figure out what to feed these critters that used to graze..
