    Thanks :)

Made new video. This one has a lot of good close up shots of fish and few corals I have.

Don't forget to switch to 1080p HD!

Oh yeah, want that clam. Anthias are looking really good. LOL on the fatty sleeper goby.

Thanks :) That clam been in my 55g for almost a year now. Glad it's doing great.

Thanks. He does have a nice pudge. I feed them life line frozen herbivore cubes and it seems to really give them nice fat bellies.

    :( Devastated.

I suspect my last addition (powder blue tang) had marine velvet. 2 days after I added him to the tank he showed some typical marine ick like bumps on his body and white specs on fins. I was hoping that it was due to stress getting adjusted to his new environment and that with some time and good diet he'll overcome it. It seemed to be so, as bumps went away and everything was happy for a week.

While I was busy during the birth of our son, it must have came back. He was acting weird this weekend and looked dull. A lot of erratic swimming and rubbing against rocks/sand. While I was contemplating what to do, two of my other fish got sick.

Long story short, over last 48 hours, I've lost 3 out of 4 anthias and powder blue tang. All with the same symptoms/progression in a matter of 24h each:

    - Few white specs over body
    - More white specs
    - Rapid breathing and lethargy
    - Dull velvety color/slime all over body
    - Overnight death

I just can't believe how quick it happened. Remaining anthias is obviously sick. Don't think he'll last another 12h. The sleeper goby does not appear to be sick, but he's hiding more than usual. Green chromis appear resilient.

I don't have a QT tank and was foolishly trusting that one of the better LFSs in our area definitely QTs and treats their fish before sale. It's possible that it's not their fault at all, and just additional stress from my tank. I think the only blame I am willing to place is on myself for not having a QT tank.

I really don't have room for one, nor willpower to maintain it. No idea what I am going to do, but I know I'll not be willing to risk another catastrophe like this. Poor animals :(

While I digest what happened, I guess I need some advice about what to do with the tank. If my other fish don't make it, do I just leave it fishless for 6 weeks, water change and start again?

If they do make it, will parasites die in 6 weeks anyway? or will some always remain in tank since fish are alive?

    Thanks.

    P.S. Since you'll ask:

    Temp: 79
    PH: 8.1
    Salinity: 1.025
    CAL: 415
    ALK: 8.3
    Mag: 1400
    NO3: undetectable
    PO3: undetectable

All corals and inverts are doing great.

Same thing happened to me. Didn't have "room" for a QT. I found room and will always QT. It really isn't that difficult to maintain. Haven't had any issues in the DT since.

Just leave it fallow for 8 weeks, do a water change at some point when you have time or as dictated by the appearance of the corals.

Very unfortunate and I am sorry.

Thanks. And Thanks for describing your QT setup via PM to me.

Thanks Corailline. I'll leave the tank alone for 8 weeks before adding anything. I'll also start looking into setting up a QT tank.

I guess one thing I am not sure about is QTing multiple fish at once. If I decide to try anthias again, i'd need to add at least 4..5 all together at once. How do you QT this many fish at once?

Also, if some of my fish pull through, will velvet still die off in 8 weeks? Or will it remain in the system since it was not fishless?

    Thanks.

So this pretty much answers your questions regarding the fallow stage and treatment options (worse than Cryptocaryans Irritans). You could easily fit multiple Anthias in a 15 -20 gallon QT. I really dislike formalin and I need to see if there is a more current treatment option. Copper does not work.

    Brooklynella

    Sure does sound like Brooklynella.

Came home for lunch, 4th anthias is now dead. Sleeper goby is covered in slime and trying to jump out. Chromis are looking sick now too.

Pretty certain Ill have no fish by tomorrow morning :(
